Camping June 2009

So we decided to take the kids camping. Was so beautiful, and they had a blast. They fished, fell in the water, had flash light wars, ate so many marshmallows they got sick - O and Max chased Kate around with the hot dog pokers. Katelynn is quiet the hiker and turned out to be quite the fisher woman as well, out fishing us all with the biggest catch. Spence took pride in his huge fire that he made and I just relaxed.

So we went to Vegas to hang out at the pool, Madalay Bay's pool is the most fun pool ever, we had a blast. Met up with some old friends we haven't seen in years and caught up on the past.

Was so much fun! I finished my last 3d - 14 hour shift in a row (that is a blog of it's own!) Spencer and I drove with our friends to Disney Land arriving to our awesome hotel the Grande Royal or the Royal Grande, (something like that) at 330am! Yes it was well worth it, after a day at California Grand and a day at Disney Land we retreated to the beach for some "R&R" except it was still a little cold out, so no water for me. The pic of the whole fam is in the parking lot of Disney Land which holds more cars than the town I grew up in, Spence and I in our exhaustion just happen to both be wearing red. This made it easy to find one another. The one of Max in the sand is of him making a sand angel while the one of Max and Spencer is in the line of the Monsters Inc ride. They are so funny together, it was like that the whole time - Crack me up!

Yay! I finnished the first year!!! It went by so fast, I don't even remember it! The first pic is at our party, the second is at the hospital, that was the day I delivered a little boy. I say I because I was the one who did all the work with the patient! Hours upon hours with this patient and right when the baby is crowning we are supposed to page the dr. to come catch the kid. The dr. comes for like 20-30 mins (assuming there is no complication) delivers the baby and then leaves. Makes me think that I shoulda followed through with the whole dr. goal I had once upon a dream. In\out in 20-30 mins and collects is 2-3 grand on the way out. - The shoulda woulda's

We look so good! I love how we match, I can't believe I got "Mr. Incredible" to play along, that in it's self is incredible. We are so excited, we dressed up and did a photo shoot so everyone can see how great we look. The bottom pic is of the kids and I at school, they came for a halloween "final" I had in pediatrics, Max wasn't so happy bout it.

Well I injured my foot, so I had to "sit out" the Kokopelli Triathlon. Such a bummer, The race cordinators came to our school looking for volunteer nurses and I decided that would be the next best thing so I signed up. Was really really hard to watch and not run the race, my girl friend won her division. Was great to see her reach her goal, but I was so envious I didn't get to compete. The race was a success, no one died in this one atleast and I got some good experience on nursing blisters and road rash \''/. I am the shorty third from the left with the hat on.

Tonight our family went to a ho-down, was so fun. It was the fourth one we've been to so it's getting to be a tradition. We all dressed up western style - Spencer was not pleased but played along. The kids put on a program and we got to catch up with old friends. The pic below is of us at the party, my friend Wendy is behind us, and Max, well I don't know why he didn't smile, he was really having a good time

Ok Spencer and I woke up this morning having planed on going to church, when Spencer turns to me and says "Ya know the world championship mountain bike races are this morning" -Well to make a short story even shorter we played "hookie" from church and went to Bryan Head to watch the races. So fun, the kids had a blast. Spencer was loading up the little honda (why take one of the big cars or truck when we could save gas) and was in the middle of taking off our bike rack when he thought to him self "Hey I'll just leave this on and fit in with the crowd" Thus the title to my entry -POSER- I took a picture of him by the car. As for me, school has started and you can totally see the fatigue and wrinkles in my face. Seriously I am considering botox, it's only been a week and I look haggared, what will I look like after eight months?! Ya know preventative medicine is the best medicine, and I'm all about preventing wrinkles.

So we held Max's birthday party on Saturday, so fun! We had 16 buckeroos come over and dressed them all up like pirates. It was chaotic and totally crazy. I think he loved it though, be sure to cheek out the cake I stayed up to 3am making, it rocks!

Ok I know what your thinking -"Where can I get a moomoo like that?!" No seriously I just got back from training for the Jordan Elle Tri and barely had time to shower let alone dress my self. I needed something fast and there it was the "holy grail" of sac-dresses, my beloved moomoo.
We threw ourselves a little street party with our neighbors, the kids were going crazy. Fireworks everywhere, so fun. Spencer let Max light a few, scare me to death. I was funny to see his little body squat down in a ball and focus intently on lighting the firework, then seeing his body explode up and run like hell when he ignited it. -Yes mom I had the first aid kit right next to me the whole time with water bucket scattered through out the street.
We also had a progressive BBQ. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's when you go to one persons house for drinks and appetizers and anothers for the main dish, then anothers for dessert. We ment a lot of really nice people and ate some great food, after we all went for a swim!

Well on June 11th we had the best birthday party ever. 18 little girls came over to the house all dressed as princesses. It was so cute they were all so beautiful and excited to be here. Linda came over and did face painting, we made our own crowns, opened a pinata then had cake and ice cream and then opened all the presents. After the party we went to her favorite restaurant - In'N'Out Burger, then off to the movies, and we would have gone swimming but the pool closed. It was really fun, It took me 3 days to prepare for. The cake was the best cake I've ever made a barbie princess cake it was beautiful. I had 50 balloons all over with streamers confetti I swear it was so much fun! A party she will always remember

Why do I tri

They ask me this question every time I compete in a race. And I can't give you one exact answer, there are many reasons why I tri. It's so challenging, both physically and mentally. Getting up at the crack of dawn taking your first step into the icy water, you feel like needles are stabing your skin as you imerge into the water. The hardest part of the entire race is when you have to put your head under, o man I can't tell you what that is like - icecream headache, one very big icecream headache all over your head, and you have to keep your head there until it goes numb. That is a painful process. Then the gun goes off and it's total maigham, swimers everywhere, swimming on top of each other, goggles getting kicked off, scratched, pushed under water, pure compitition. But for a moment, a very brief moment when the swimmers have begun to separate and the sun is shining my body has warmed up I feel a peace, and I love that. My best segment is the swim, I'm one of the first few out of the water, my lungs are on fire when I climb out of the lake and I run bare foot on rocks to the transition area. there I peel off my wet suit get my biking gear on and go for one long "ace" bike ride. I'm small so I can get up the hills pretty good, but going down I don't have the body mass to fly down like most people. The fastest I've gone on my little specialized is 42 mph (Spencer goes like 52) and to me that is fly'n. It's a little scarey, all it takes is one rock and your a gonner, But I love the thrill. The biking is my hardest part, all those girls that I beat out of the water, start to catch up with me on the bike. When I get off the bike my legs are jellow J-E-L-L-O-W. It takes everything I have to keep from falling. When I transition from the bike to the run my legs are 100 lbs they are so heavy and after I've been flying on the bike I feel like I'm going so slow. It's the end of the race and I'm spent and starting to dehyrate this part is most challenging for me and I start to dought my self. But I see Spencer and my friends and family cheering me on and I keep going. As I approach the finish line I dig deeper than I ever have in the race and give it all I got, the announcer says my name and I cross the finish line, this is such and emotional experience for me I always cry, you can't tell because of the sweat and red face. All the getting up early and training, dieting, the sore muscles, punishment. Each time I cross the finish line I become a better woman, the feeling is serile. As I watch this video I am absolutly amazed. I have a trailer that I pull Kate and Max in, and extra 70 lbs and I can do it but never up a hill. For this man to push and pull his adult son the entire race shows serious commitment and love. Make sure to watch the video and become inspired!

Insomnia

Yes, I have insomnia, up all night every night. School is so stressful, they don't seem to let up at all, tomarrow I have a test over 7 chapters of diseases and drugs, ya and the drugs have two names, the clinical and marketing name. Then friday I have another test over 6 chapters, and a research paper to write, lest they are taken it easy and making it a minimum of 6 pages, O and I have a class presentation on blood disorders, and the State Nursing convention is on Saturday -Seriously I need a clone. -Polligamy anyone \''/ My house is a dissaster, I haven't been grocery shopping in two weeks and I don't think I've seen my kids in 3 days, and Spencer, who's he? Poor guy is working non-stop and beat when he gets home. I can't believe I am taking the time to actually write on this blog, anti-depressants and cardiac disrythmias are calling me, back to studying, I'll write soon

Family Night

Tonight was family night and we bought the felt kit of the birth of Christ, ya know the manger scene, it was so fun to teach the kids the christmass story. I think that Kate is starting to understand the story. Makes me proud.
I have finnished my shopping and am so ready for the holiday to come. I am making my neighbors and friends divinity. I used to make all sorts of fudge and chocolate covered cherries, pretzles and apples, but I just don't have it in me this year.
I am planing my 30th birthday, thinking of going to vegas with a bunch of girl friends and getting a suit. Thinking of seeing Circ cir dule or how ever you spell that, going to dinner, shopping, I'm really excited. I don't know if it will all work out with my school scheldual, but I hope!

Well December is finally here and that means Christmass. For me the best part of this holiday is getting ready for Christmass Eve. I really enjoy the cooking, and baking, and ofcoarse the shopping! I love to set the table all festive and decorate my home inside and out. I will post pictures of last years celebration for all to see!
